PSYCHOLOGIST · RESEARCHER · AUTHOR

Hello,
I'm Joseph.

At the heart of my work is a simple belief:
we’re better together.

I’m a Clinical & Rehabilitation Psychologist and the founder and Clinical Director of the Centre for Compassionate Care in Hamilton, Ontario. My work brings together psychological science, compassionate care, and a curiosity about what it means to be human.

I support people navigating trauma, addictions, chronic pain, and complex mental health challenges. I’m interested in the ways we can make room for our experience, understand the patterns that keep us stuck, and move toward lives that feel more connected and meaningful.

Alongside clinical practice, I explore psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy, meditation, and writing. Across these different forms of work, I return to the same invitation: listen closely, meet what arrives, and move at the speed of trust.

A GUIDING PRACTICE

“Listening is loving.
Loving is listening.”

01 / CLINICAL WORK

Care begins
with connection.

A person is more than a diagnosis.

At the Centre for Compassionate Care (C3), I work within a community of professionals to offer thoughtful, person-centred support. Our approach brings evidence-based psychological care into conversation with each person’s circumstances, relationships, and goals.

Psychological care

Assessment and psychotherapy for complex mental health challenges, including trauma, mood and anxiety difficulties, addictions, and chronic pain.

Integrative psychotherapy

I co-developed Integrative Ketamine-Enhanced Psychotherapy (IKEP) with Dr. Mitch Earleywine. The program brings preparation, supported exploration, and integration into a coordinated circle of care. Suitability is assessed individually with medical oversight.

A circle of care

Collaboration with other providers helps connect psychological treatment with the broader support a person needs.

02 / RESEARCH

Curiosity,
in practice.

What can we learn when we pay attention to lived experience?

My research interests include psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy and the integration of innovative treatments into psychological care. I’m interested in how clinical research can inform the care people receive in their communities.

My work in this area connects clinical practice, collaboration, and a careful consideration of the therapeutic relationship.

03 / WRITING & IDEAS

Another way
of listening.

Stories can open a door that explanations leave closed.

My writing explores feelings, identity, compassion, and the art of letting go. Some of these questions find their way into philosophical conversations; others become stories for children and the people who love them.
